CHARGE for Collegiate Nursing Program Students

The CHARGE program is an applicant-only program that allows students to receive additional educational opportunities during their time actively enrolled in the nursing program. Opportunities, such as tutoring/study resources, compassionate care skills practice, workshop meetings with potential employers, and resume writing will be offered to all accepted into the program. Additionally, CHARGE for Collegiate Nursing Students will provide a stipend to all active participants to assist with various financial stressors students may face when enrolled in a collegiate nursing program as well as the option to receive NCLEX prep through The Princeton Review.

Requirements:

CHARGE for Collegiate Nursing Students was developed for students currently enrolled in a collegiate or vocational nursing program within the NE KY AHEC 17-county service region. In order to be considered for this program, students must apply prior to the application deadline and remain within the program for the remainder of the school year or until graduation if the student chooses to do so (students will be re-evaluated to ensure previous year requirements are met). Students interested in applying must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA within their collegiate nursing program. Students must attend a minimum of two (2) group study sessions per semester with their peers and meet with a program-approved tutor one-on-one for a minimum of 2 sessions per month at their college/university. Students will meet with program administrators for quarterly progress checks. Students will participate in monthly workshops via Zoom. The Zooms will be held in the evenings, dates and times pending schedule availability of guest speakers. Zooms will feature guest speakers within the nursing field speaking on a variety of topics (i.e. burnout prevention, the nursing shortage, study tips, etc) and various healthcare facilities providing details of what opportunities they have for upcoming nursing graduates.
