The Northeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (NE KY AHEC) is pleased to announce the addition of Cassandra Chandler as its new Student Services Coordinator, effective September 29.
A Johnson County native, Chandler has called Rowan County home for several years. She brings to AHEC a strong background in academic support and student engagement. Most recently, she served as Administrative Assistant for Health Sciences at the Kentucky Community & Technical College System’s (KCTCS) Morehead campus, where she worked closely with faculty and students in a variety of health-related programs.
“I think my previous role helped prepare me for the work I’ll be doing at the Northeast AHEC,” Chandler said. “I’m very excited to bring my passion for education and health care to this role. As Student Services Coordinator, I’ll get to help students achieve their professional goals while also promoting the health of our region.”
In her new role, Chandler will coordinate activities for medical students from the University of Pikeville’s Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, helping them navigate their clinical rotations and community experiences throughout Northeast Kentucky. She will also collaborate with AHEC staff and community partners to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive during their training.
The NE KY AHEC plays a vital role in strengthening the health care workforce pipeline in rural Kentucky by supporting health professions education, promoting community-based training, and encouraging future providers to live and work in underserved areas. Chandler’s addition to the team will help expand these efforts and deepen connections between students and the communities they serve.
